Remote FX - graphics

Dear all

I have hyper-v server (W8KR2 SP1) and I have a few VMs (Windows 7 Pro / Windows 8 RC) The server is located in my office and I would like to put all my home videos and photos onto either one of the VMs and then transmit the video to my main TV in the lounge via a wireless HDMI transmitter. I have been testing an app on iOS called RemoteMouse, which I will use for my keyboard / mouse capabilities.

The problem I am having is that the VMs cannot handle the graphics rendering very well when I play the video and photos (and hyper-v does not support SOUND pass through!) I have looked at adding a new graphics card to the server and then enabling Remote FX, but this is a fairly expensive solution as the price of these cards can be £200+. Even if I use RDP and enable remote audio, RDP will have problems with rendering the graphics.

The server I am using is a ML110 G6 with 12GB RAM, the processor supports SLAT, the disks I am using are SATA 3, the VM that I will choose to use I will rebuild with a SSD using pass through.

Can anyone offer any advise?

How does VDI handle graphics and sound, or does it run over RDP?

Does Windows 2012 hyper-v allow sound pass through and better graphics rendering?
